Marcus Staniforth aged 17 and a 16 year old accomplice were sentenced to life imprisonment by Mr Justice Griffiths on 20th February 2026. They were both convicted of murder following a six week trial at Cardiff Crown Court. Kamran Aman a 38 year old father had been visiting his mother to deliver shopping when he was confronted by two teenagers. He was stabbed in the heart and died on the street outside his mother’s home in Barry.
The case involved issues of participation intent and diminished responsibility. The trial attracted significant publicity given that there was racist element to the attack.
