Successful prosecution of Chester Murder

Owen Edwards KC and James Coutts successfully prosecuted Tony Devenport for the brutal killing of his partner Stephanie Blundell.

Stephanie’s body was found by her father in the Chester home she shared with Devenport. Despite her having suffered several inflicted injuries the cause of death was complicated, and the jury heard evidence from eminent pathologists and neuro- pathologists. Devenport was convicted following a four week trial before Mrs Justice Steyn. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on 27^th February 2026. Stephanie’s parents paid tribute to their daughter and praised the work of the Cheshire constabulary and the prosecution team.
