James Coutts appeared in the Inquest Touching on the Death of TD, a prisoner at HMP Berwyn serving a life sentence for murder, who was the first prisoner to die from covid during the pandemic. James represented the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, responsible for the medical treatment given to prisoners at HMP Berwyn. The Coroner recorded a conclusion of natural causes and the Health Board and the Prison were noted to have acted professionally and with expedition in the face of a novel and fast changing environment.’
