Members of Linenhall Chambers have been involved in both the Prosecution and Defence of a large Encrochat conspiracy to supply drugs into North Wales.
13 defendants received a total of over 109 years imprisonment following a lengthy and complex police investigation. Andrew Jones led Anna Pope for the Prosecution. Maria Masselis, Nicholas Williams and Simon Mintz represented 3 of the defendants.
This convert investigation, dubbed Operation Blue Colbalt, saw 13 crime group members plotting to supply cocaine and cannabis which would have seen the group again around £6 million. North Wales Police hailed the prosecutions as a major victory after every defendant pleaded guilty meaning there was no need for a trial. His Honour Timothy Petts at Caernarfon Crown Court praised everyone involved in both the prosecution and defence of the complex case, stating “I record my thanks and appreciation to all those involved in the detection and prosecution of this case, both in the Liverpool and North Wales arms”.
