Siân Holmes

Siân Holmes

Year of Call 2017

Siân accepted tenancy at Linenhall Chambers in 2020 after completing her pupillage specialising in Family Law under the supervision of Alexandra Hewitt and Kate Meredith-Jones.

Career History:

Prior to accepting pupillage, Siân worked at a local firm of solicitors, managing a caseload of both public and private law matters, including domestic abuse matters, Child Arrangements and Care Proceedings. Siân is familiar with dealing directly with lay clients and attending court hearings on their behalf, and so is able to put them at ease and guide them through the court process.

She is able to confidently provide advice on cases of all merits, and her previous experience dealing with clients directly means that she understands the importance of offering a holistic analysis, taking into account legal, procedural and practical considerations. Siân adapts her method of handling cases depending on whether a pragmatic or robust approach is required, and is equally comfortable either offering realistic advice or acting fearlessly on instructions, depending on each particular client’s needs.

Throughout her legal studies Siân was involved in pro-bono work in the community, and volunteered at ‘Support Through Court’ (formerly the ‘PSU’) based at the Liverpool Civil & Family Court. ‘Support Through Court’ is a national charity assisting unrepresented litigants navigate court proceedings.

Before entering the legal sector, Siân was a Foreign News Editor at an international media conglomerate based in Liverpool where she produced, edited and translated foreign-language news and media content for the maritime and hotel industries.
