Two men who had entered pleas to a conspiracy to supply cannabis arising out of a huge police operation had their sentences reduced at the court of appeal today. The case arose out of Operation Justice an investigation into cocaine dealing in North Wales.
The men were involved in a separate conspiracy of a less serious nature but nevertheless received prison sentences of two years and 15 months respectively.
This was one of the first of a number of appeals arising out of the new sentencing guidelines on drug supply. Owen Edwards representing both men on appeal successfully argued that sentences towards the top of the sentencing range were inappropriate. The sentences were found to be manifestly excessive and reduced upon appeal to 15 months and 12 months.
