Matthew Corbett-Jones successfully prosecuted the case of Joshua Hughes who grabbed a 15-year-old girl and dragged her to a secluded location near Grosvenor Park where he raped her. The attack happened in October 2020. Hughes was found Guilty following a 4-day trial at Chester Crown Court in June before His Honour Judge Berkson. On sentencing the defendant to 25 years the Judge told Hughes “You are indeed the predatory rapist the jury found you to be and have shown no remorse for your behaviour.” He also praised the “immense” amount of work done by the Police and Prosecution team and the bravery of the victim who “suffered severely from these events.”
