Maria Masselis prosecuted the son of an elderly lady after she was found dead with an unusual fracture. The case involved the prosecution and defence calling multiple experts as to the body’s healing response to injury, and issues of causation. The Defendant was convicted by unanimous verdict of the jury. Sentence has been adjourned for medical reports on the Defendant and his wife (against whom the prosecution halted proceedings due to her ill health).
