Judge Davies was called to the Bar in 1964 and practiced at the Family Bar in London for many years.  In 1983 he was appointed as a district judge, sitting in London, and upon his appointment as a Circuit Judge in 1994 sat in North Wales predominantly dealing with family cases. He retired in 2007.

During his time as a Judge, he was highly regarded for his legal knowledge, his fairness and unfailing good humour and patience.  He was courteous to all who appeared before him, whether professionals, parents or witnesses
